Mrs. Juanita L. Youmans, age 94 of Soperton, passed away during the early morning hours on Friday, November 22, 2019 as a resident at the Treutlen County Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Born on Monday, March 23, 1925, in Treutlen County she was the eldest and last living of two daughters born to the late Arthur Clayton and Mettie Moxley Lindsey. At the age of fourteen, she started working at the Pal Theater in Soperton and continued until the early 1960s. In the early 1960s, she went to work for the Selective Service System in Treutlen County where she remained until the draft was terminated. Then she joined and worked for The Farmer's Home Administration in Dublin until retiring in 1985.
She has been a lifelong member of Soperton First Baptist Church and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Soperton and Dublin Chapters.
Mrs. Youmans enjoyed traveling to any place she hadn't already visited and crocheting potholders, which she shared with almost everyone whom she came in contact with.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Youmans, who passed away in 1973 and her sister, Loise Lindsey Mosley.
Mrs. Youmans leaves behind nieces and nephews, Wanda Mosley, Soperton, GA, Artie Mosley (Angie), Tifton, GA; great nephews, Rev. Josh Mosley (Emily), Stapleton, GA, Chris Burkett (Stevie), Hazlehurst, GA, and Derek Mosley (Laura), Tifton, GA.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Monday, November 25, 2019 in the sanctuary of the Soperton First Baptist Church with her great nephew, Pastor Josh Mosley and Reverend Chad Cofield officiating.
Serving as pallbearers will be: David Roberts, Josh Cammack, Sheriff Tommy Corbin, Griffin Beall and her great nephews, Derek Mosley and Chris Burkett.
Mrs. Youmans will be laid to rest beside her husband in the family section of Westview Cemetery.
Her family will receive friends on Sunday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Sammons Funeral Home.
