Mrs. Julia O'Deen Anderson Greenwood, age 92 passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, August 2, 2025 in Deland, Florida.
Born in Treutlen County, Georgia, she was the youngest and last living of twelve children born to the late Alfred Leland Anderson and Julia Steptoe Anderson. In 1949 she moved to Florida to live with her sister. In 1955 she married Robert J. "Bob" Greenwood of Newton, Massachusetts. During their marriage they lived in Florida, Massachusetts, Arizona, Missouri, Nevada, Georgia, Utah, Oregon, Texas and California. They travelled to many other states. She loved to travel and venture down the unknown and the "roads less traveled". After her husband's death, in 1983, Julia returned to Florida. She lived in Orlando for over 38 years.
Julia worked as a Postal Carrier and a Postal Clerk for over 25 years for the U. S. Postal Service. She moved to Deland in 2021 to live with her son.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Robert J. Greenwood; siblings: Verbie Willis, Ruby Stanford, Garland Anderson, Pearline Holton, Jewel Howell, Felton Anderson, Juanita Anderson, Vera Anderson Stewart, Ernest Anderson, Larson Anderson, Horace Anderson, Eunice Hopkins.
She leaves behind; her daughter, Laura Greenwood; her son, Scott Greenwood; daughter in-law Kandi Bernsdorf; grandchildren: Justin Moss, Joshua Ricasolo, Jordan Ricasolo, Jacob Bernsdorf, Kami Bernsdorf, and Khari Bernsdorf; great-grandchildren Valerie Hernandez and Jadalise Canales along with many nieces and nephews.
A Service to Celebrate her Life will be conducted at 1:00 p. m. on Saturday, August 16, 2025 in the Williams Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home with Rev. Clayton Tanner officiating.
Mrs. Greenwood will be laid to rest in the family section of Boiling Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be: Jordan Ricasolo, Jacob Bernsdorf, Robert Sandberg, Taejon Canales, Chaz Hernandez, Scott Greenwood.
Her family will receive friends on Saturday, the 16th, from 12:00 noon until the hour of service, at Sammons Funeral Home.
