Mrs. June Holmes, age 79, formerly of Soperton passed away on Saturday afternoon, September 2, 2023 at the Lumber City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Lumber City, Georgia.

Born in Soperton, she was the eldest of two daughters born to the late James Edward Branch and Lollie Pearl Wilkes Branch.  She grew up in Soperton and was a graduate of Soperton High School, Class of 1962.  She later attended Brewton Parker College where she earned her Associates Degree.  Mrs. Holmes had worked at Roy don Wear for a short time before moving to Dublin and working for most of her working years as an Emergency Medical Services Dispatcher and a substitute school Teacher at within the Laurens County School System.  Within the last fifteen years she moved to Cochran and worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant.

Mrs. Holmes was free spirited and was never afraid to undertake a new endeavor or adventure.  She enjoyed her cats and her daily phone calls with her sister.

She leaves behind her children, Michael Holmes, Cochran, GA, Donna Odom (Chuck), Glenwood, GA, her sister, Grace Proctor, Soperton, GA, five grandchildren: Justin Holmes, Matthew Holmes, Calob Holmes, Cody Odom, Logan Odom, thirteen great grandchildren, two nieces and a nephew.

Mrs. Holmes will be laid to rest off the coast of Apalachicola, Florida.
