Obituary

Mr. Archie Keith Crawford, age 63 of Mt. Vernon, passed away Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at Community Hospice in Vidalia.

Born in Blackshear, GA on June 22, 1959, he was a son of the late James Elbert and Joyce Elaine Bennett Crawford.  Keith had lived in Pierce County for many years prior to moving to Mt. Vernon sixteen years ago.  He had attended Blackshear High School where he was a member of the graduating Class of 1977.  He worked for Gilman Building Products for a short time before joining the City of Waycross's Fire Department as a fireman. He progressed through the ranks of the fire department until retiring as a Battalion Chief after 32 years of service to the citizens of Ware County.  Keith loved riding motorcycles and had logged 192,000 miles between two different motorcycles over the years. He always looked forward to exploring new areas and seeing new sights.  Mr. Crawford's "hobby" was doting over his granddaughters, whom he dearly loved.

In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by his step-father, Virlyn Peacock; and two brothers, James Elbert Crawford, Jr. and Travis Lamar "T-Bone" Crawford.

He leaves behind his wife, Cynthia "Cindy" Lawrence Crawford of Mt. Vernon; two daughters, Trinity Lynn Villegas and Devan Price both of Mt. Vernon; two sons, Dustin Levi Crawford of Blackshear and Eli Carey (Denise) of Lyons; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Larry & Connie Crawford and Francis Peacock all of Blackshear; 2 granddaughters, Abigail Carey and Andrea Carey; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Keith was laid to rest beside his brother, Travis, on Friday morning, September 9, 2022 at Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Blackshear, Georgia.

If so desired memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Community Hospice, 904 Mt. Vernon Road, Vidalia, GA  30474.
