Mr. Billy "Kelvin" Ward, age 50, of Soperton passed away peacefully on Wednesday afternoon, June 17, 2020 at his home.
Born in Swainsboro, he was the eldest of two sons born to Ellen Joyce Brantley and the late Billy Ward. He was a graduate of West Laurens High School, Class of 1989. He and his family have made Treutlen County their home since 1990. The Ward family were avid campers and Kelvin was known to visit every campsite and make every camper a new friend and invite them to church. As a child, Kelvin had a cart and pony that he rode in; in order to keep up with other family members on trail rides. He made friends everywhere he went and was contagiously joyful, happy and cheerful. In addition to his love for his church and camping, Kelvin was fond of "Archie" comic books and possessed a special love for all animals.
He was presently a member at Aimwell Calvary Holiness Church in Vidalia.
He is preceded in death by his father, Billy Ward, who passed away in 2001, paternal grandparents, William and Ester Ward and his maternal grandparents, Oliver and Gladys Brantley.
Kelvin leaves behind his mother, Joyce Brantley Ward, Soperton, GA, his brother, Kendall Ward and his wife, Cindy, Albany, GA, two nieces, Deborah Munafo (Drew), Kendra Uselton (Timothy) and countless aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Saturday, June 20, 2020 from the Blackville Church of God with, his brother, Reverend Kendall Ward, Reverend Noah Phillips, Reverend Andrew Bellah and Reverend Drew Munafo officiating.
Kelvin will be laid to rest beside his father in Tarrytown Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be: Drew Munafo, Timothy Usleton, Mitch Brantley, Stefen Croft, Clint Brantley and Bruce Morris.
His family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 pm on Friday at the Blackville Church of God.
Personal COVID -19 precautions are encouraged; to include the use of facial coverings and the practice of social distancing.
