Lana Faye Braswell, a native of Adrian, Georgia completed her earthly journey on this past Wednesday morning, the 30th day of August in the year of 2023.

The eldest of four children, Lana Faye Braswell was born in Dublin, Georgia and grew up on the farm of Dillon and Lois in nearby Adrian, with her younger brothers Gene, David, and Phillip. She left the farm as a young woman and graduated from the University of Georgia in Athens.

She married, and her life's journey brought her first to Upstate New York and then to North Carolina, where she was a beloved wife and mother. She worked diligently for the state, first as a social worker, then in the Administrative Office of the Courts as an Indigency Screener and a County Magistrate. At the end of her career, she returned to her first love—children—working with young people as a 4H Agent and finally as a Culinary Arts Instructor.

Faye was a fierce protector—protecting her family, friends, and the American Dream she fought for so hard and earned every day of her life. Now she has earned her final rest—halfway among the tall pines and fields of the farm where she was young; and halfway in the waters surrounding her beloved barrier islands of Southeastern North Carolina.

She was also an avid traveler, delighting in new experiences, places, and people in these United States and in strange, beautiful lands across the oceans. On Wednesday, August 30th, at the age of 78, she began the journey she has prepared for a lifetime—across the waves of space and time to where endless meets the end and love echoes in eternity...crying of what is past, passing, and to come.
