Mrs. Laura Mae Stewart Darley, age 97, beloved wife of the late Johnnie Darley of Dublin joined her angels on Saturday evening April 8, 2023.
Born in Laurens County, she was the only daughter of the late William Ashley Stewart and Tiny Bessie Johnson Stewart. Mrs. Darley was a lifelong resident of the Laurens County area; living in Dublin and Dudley. She worked her entire lifetime in Food Service; starting at Quincy's before joining Dublinaire Health and Rehabilitation Center where she stayed until accepting a Cafeteria position with the Laurens County Public School System in Dudley, from where she retired after many years. Upon retiring from the school system she worked at Chick-fil-A in Dublin as a Greeter and Dining Room Manager, until the age of eighty eight. While working in the school system, she mentored many children as a foster parent.
Mrs. Darley enjoyed her daily Dublin Courier newspaper and watching RFD TV; especially Larry's Country Diner.
She was a lifelong member on the Central Drive Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her children, Doris McDaniel, Johnny Lewis Darley Sr., Margaret Hardy, Bobby "Lil Bob" Darley, Larry Don Darley, William Dale Darley, Doyce Earl "Doughboy" Darley and grandchildren, Elaine Steinkamp and Brenda Gillis.
Mrs. Darley leaves behind, daughter's in law: Dianne Darley, Brenda Darley and Diann Darley; all of Dublin, ten grandchildren, Betty Faye Newman (Buck), David McDaniel (Kelly), Cindy NeSmith (Milton) Johnny Darley Jr., (Annita), Mary Ledford, Josh Darley (Holly), Cale Darley, Hannah Darley, ten great grandchildren, ten great great grandchildren, a great great great grandson and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Saturday, April 15, 2023 in the Williams Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home with Reverend W. L. Currie and Reverend Andy Lowery officiating.
Mrs. Darley will be laid to rest beside her husband in Blue Springs Cemetery.
Her family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers will be: Benny Allen, Milton NeSmith, Caleb NeSmith, Dylan NeSmith, Buck Newman, Trevor Barber and Tristian Mitchell.
