Mr. Willie Lee Watkins Jr., age 51 of Soperton, passed away at Meadows Regional Medical Center in Vidalia on Friday evening, December 1, 2023.
Born in Swainsboro, GA, he was the eldest of three children born to Carolyn Sue McCullough Watkins Beecher and the late Willie Lee Watkins Sr. Lee grew up and was a lifelong resident of Adrian until moving to Soperton in 2019. Lee had always worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator; learning his trade and skills from an uncle and mentor, Charles Watkins. Throughout the years, Lee has worked in various capacities with several contractors. He was currently working with the Johnson County Streets and Roads Department in Wrightsville.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, cutting up, socializing and his work with the Adrian Volunteer Fire Department.
Lee was a member of the Norristown Revival Center.
In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his step mother, Barbara Beck Watkins, paternal grandparents, Rabon Watkins "Papa", Susie Lee Watkins "Mawmer", maternal grandparents, Carson McCullough and Susie Collins.
"Lee Bo" leaves behind: his wife, Laurie Davis Watkins, Soperton, GA, children, Mark Anthony Dickins (Kelsey), Judith Ellen Cunningham (Michael), Joseph Lee Dickins, all of Highland, IL, his mother, Carolyn McCullough Beecher, Cedar Crossing, GA, a sister, Jamie, Daly Minton (Tony), Alamo, GA, a brother, Christopher Daly (Lindsey), Collins, GA and countless nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at Norristown Revival Center with Pastor Jack Stafford officiating.
Lee will be laid to rest in the Heath Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be: Allan Beck, Ricky Beck, Wesley Watkins, Alvin Williamson, Billy Williamson and Jimmy Spivey.
His family will receive friends on Monday, from 6:00 – 8 :00 pm at Sammons Funeral Home, as well as, at the home of Bill and Ann Beck.
