Mr. Leonard Leroy Gregory, age 71, beloved husband of Lillian Keen Gregory passed away on Sunday, August 16, 2020 at Emanuel County Medical Center in Swainsboro.
Born in Garfield, Georgia, he was the youngest of nine children born to the late Leonard Lee and Sarah Elizabeth Wood Gregory. Mr. Gregory lived most of his life in and around the Swainsboro area. He had worked in machinery for Roper and Yardmaster Industries in Swainsboro and worked as a Landscaper later in life. Mr. Gregory was a huge animal lover and had the ability to calm the most wary of animals and find them in his lap within minutes. In retirement, he and his wife traveled worldwide and enjoyed many bus tours within the United States. He enjoyed time with his family, his friends and his church family at New Beginnings Church in Swainsboro.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by siblings, Iva Mae Mock, Mary Gregory, Helen Gregory Neal, Martha Gregory Hendley, James Byrd Rudolph Gregory, William Arnold Gregory and Eugene Gregory.
Mr. Gregory leaves behind, his wife of 47 years, Lillian Keen Gregory, Swainsboro, their son, USAF CMSgt Daniel Gregory and his wife, Catherine, presently serving at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, AZ, a sister, Violet Burke, Millen, GA, a brother, Robert Gregory, Sylvania, GA, three grandchildren, Christopher Fisher, Brendon Fisher, Dakota Gregory, a great granddaughter and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 12:00 noon, on Tuesday, August 25, 2020 from the graveside at Harmony Baptist Cemetery with Reverend Tim Price officiating.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday at the graveside.
