Obituary

Mrs. Lillian Miller Mimbs, age 100, beloved wife of the late Edward Mimbs, of Adrian passed away on Friday morning, July 21, 2023 at her home.

Born in Johnson County, she was one of four children born to the late Benion and Laura Smith Miller.  She grew up and was educated in Johnson County.  At the age of eighteen, she married William Edward Mimbs, whom she had met at Mt. Olive Church of the Nazarene.   The newlyweds lived in Warner Robins during WWII as her husband worked on the base.  They came to Treutlen County in the mid 1940s and have resided in the same area since.  Mrs. Mimbs had worked at various local textile factories as a sewing machine operator, owned the Chicken Delight Restaurant in Soperton and was a homemaker and the wife of a farmer.

Mrs. Mimbs has been a longtime member of Blackville Church of God, where she had taught Sunday School, worked in Vacation Bible School, had served as church Treasurer and enjoyed her affiliation with the Honey Bunch Senior Club.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, William Edward "W.E.", "Uncle Shug" Mimbs; who passed away in 1980 and her siblings, Roy Miller, Gladys Campbell and James Poole.

Mrs. Mimbs leaves behind her children, Jimmie Evans, Warner Robins, GA, Sarah Chafin (Jimmy), East Dublin, GA, Eddy Mimbs (Marsha), Adrian, GA, grandchildren, Regina Flanders (Herb), Mickey Meeks (Vicky), Joyce Mullis, Lonny Chafin (Kendra), Dustin Mimbs (Jamie), nine great grandchildren, four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 pm on Sunday, July 23, 2023 at Blackville Church of God with Pastor Barry Peavey, Pastor Milton Thomas and Pastor Herb Flanders officiating.

Mrs. Mimbs will be laid to rest beside her husband in Westview Cemetery.

Her family will receive friends on Saturday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Sammons Funeral Home or friends and family may call at the residence.

Serving as pallbearers will be: Dustin Mimbs, Lonny Chafin, Cole Flanders, Miles Flanders, Mickey Meeks, Michael Meeks and Matthew Meeks.

Serving as honorary escorts will be: Ken and Donna Pollette, Carlton Ely, Gary Dickens, Lillian McGahee, Joan Irvin, Alvin Heath, Darvin Wilkes and Sheriff Greg Roland.
