Mrs. Lillie Odom Powell, age 91, of Soperton died Monday, December 16, 2024, at Treutlen County Health and Rehabilitation after an extended illness.
Mrs. Powell was a lifelong resident of Treutlen County and was a daughter of the late James Eddie Odom, Sr. and Lillie Gillis Odom. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Alton Powell; son-in-law, John Brewton; step-mother, Mary Thompson Odom; and siblings, Eloise Pronko, James Eddie Odom, Jr., Ward Odom, Dwight Odom, and Felix Odom.
She was a former member of Rosemont Baptist Church where she taught the Adult Sunday School Class and served in numerous other capacities for many years. She was presently a member of the First Baptist Church, Soperton, where she was a member of the Helen Perry Sunday School Class. She found enjoyment in cooking, farming alongside her husband, and spending time with her family.
Family members include her children, Glenn and Pamela Powell and Sue Brewton of Soperton; grandchildren, Steven and Stacey Powell of Soperton, Susannah and Weston Robison of Vidalia, and John Christopher Brewton of St. Simons Island; great-grandchildren, Logan Powell and Emily Powell of Soperton, and Lillie Robison of Vidalia; two sisters, Anne B. Hutcheson of Hephzibah and Gail (Freddie) Willis of Soperton; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services will be held in the First Baptist Church, Soperton, at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 19, with Pastor Mark Sweat and Pastor Chad Cofield officiating. Burial will be in Westview Cemetery, Soperton, with Sammons Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Steven Powell, John Christopher Brewton, Weston Robison, Wayne Hooks, Phil Odom, and David Walden.
Family will receive friends at the church 1 hour before services.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, P. O. Box 25, Soperton, GA 30457.
Sincere gratitude and appreciation are extended to the staff at Treutlen County Health and Rehabilitation for the excellent care that was provided and love shown during her residency at the facility.
