Reverend Linda S. Jones Leverett, age 80, was reunited with her husband, Reverend. Charles H. Leverett on Saturday morning, January 23, 2021.

On January 18, 2021 Rev. Charles H. Leverett, age 84 of Soperton was promoted to his heavenly reward.

Rev. Leverett was born August 3, 1936, in Tift County, Georgia, the son of the late W.H. Leverett and Margaret Collins Leverett. He was also preceded in death by a son, Charles Stanley Leverett and son-in-law, James (Dink) Rayburn. He was married to Linda Jones Leverett for 64 yrs.

Rev. Leverett pastored churches in Ashburn, Georgia; Valdosta, Georgia; Conway, S.C. (where he led the congregation in the building of a new Church Building) and Dawson, Georgia. He served as Senior Pastor at First Assembly in Dawson for 37 years, until his retirement in October, 2011. While serving as Pastor of First Assembly of Dawson, Rev. Leverett served as secretary, Vice President, and President of the local Ministerial Association. He served as Chaplain for the Police Dept. and also served on The Terrell County High School Advisory Board. He loved his congregation and the entire city of Dawson and Terrell County.

He and his loving wife Linda served together as a ministerial team, and wherever you saw one, you saw the other. While pastoring 1st Assembly, he led the church in the total remodeling of the entire church building and Fellowship Hall, and the complete remodeling of the Church Parsonage. Rev. Leverett also served many years as a Presbyter of the Georgia District of the Assemblies of God.

After retiring, Rev. Leverett and his loving wife Linda moved to Soperton, Georgia and attended Trinity Assembly of God, pastored by his Son-in-law, James Rayburn. He participated at Trinity by producing and printing the Sunday Bulletin, serving on the Church Board, and opening the Sunday Morning Services.

Rev. Leverett loved his family dearly.

On Saturday morning, January 23, 3010, Reverend Leverett's wife, Rev. Linda Sue Jones Leverett was reunited with her husband in glory.

Rev. Linda Leverett was born Linda Jones Aug. 28, 1940 in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Lewis Jones and Ozella Turner Jones. She was married to Charles Leverett for 64 years.

Linda Leverett was deeply in love with Charles and was a devoted mother to her three children, Stan, Debbie, and Jan. She cherished her family, and when her children married, she treated their spouses, James "Dink" Rayburn, Tim McIntyre, and Mary Leverett, as if they were her own sons and daughter. She adored — and spoiled — all of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandson.

Linda was best-known as a prayer warrior. It was said that if you asked "Sister Leverett" to pray, you could count on God answering. Linda also loved to preach and teach the Word of God. She was a gifted singer and musician. Her bake sales, in which her from-scratch cakes took center stage, raised a lot of money for various church projects. She was also heavily involved in the Women's Ministries in the church.

When it came to loving those outside her family, Linda took the instructions in James 1:27 to heart. She was an advocate for the poor, often meeting with hospital employees to reduce or remove charges for families/individuals that simply could not afford them.

She counseled many in her church and her community, and she taught remedial reading and mentored many children. She also ministered in local nursing homes for many years - both leading services as well as ministering to individuals at each facility.

Linda's final night at home was spent reading her Bible and praying over her prayer list. Linda J. Leverett loved right until the very end. Linda loved God. She loved her family. She loved her church and her community. In fact, if Linda's life story had to be condensed into two words, they would be this: "She loved."

" And the two shall become one."

Charles and Linda exemplified this biblical mandate. Their relationship was never about "me" but always about "us." They faced the ups and downs of life together, hand in hand. Their faith in God was the anchor that kept them tethered to His unseen hand and to each other. From the beginning of their life together they chose to follow God's plans rather than their own. Only eternity will tell the impact of their obedience.

Charles & Linda Leverett loved their family dearly. They were preceded in death by a son, Charles Stanley Leverett and son-in-law, James (Dink) Rayburn. They are survived their children: Debbie Rayburn of Soperton, Georgia and Jan (Tim) McIntyre of Ocala, Florida; their daughter-in-law Mary Leverett of Stryker, Ohio; and their families, which include seven grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. They are also survived by Charles' sister: Mary Morris of Adel, Georgia, and two Brothers: Crawford (Melba) Leverett of Tifton, Georgia, Jerry (Betsy) Leverett, of Alamo, Georgia; and Linda's sister: Cindy (Ken) Barney of Callahan, Florida.

The celebration of the Leverett's home going will be held at 10:00 am on January 25, 2021 at Trinity Assembly of God in Soperton, GA. Rev. Ken Barney, Rev. Larry Hammock, and Rev. Tim McIntyre will officiate. The family will receive friends on Monday from 9:00 am until the hour of service at Trinity Assembly of God in Soperton..

The Leveretts will be laid to rest in Westview Cemetery.

Pallbearers for the service will be: Shane Bowen, Richard Chatting, Robert Chatting, Dwayne Humphrey, Joshua Leverett, Daniel Rayburn.
