Obituary

Mrs. Linda Gillis Stewart, age 71, beloved wife of the late Doyle Lawton "D.L." Stewart of East Dublin passed away on Sunday morning, May 11, 2025 at her home.

Born in Dublin, she was one of five children born to the late, Daniel S. Gillis and Mary L. Churchwell Gillis.  She grew up in Dublin where she was a lifelong resident.  Linda had worked at the Super Duper Restaurant, in Dublin, before working at Alan Bradley Manufacturing, which would be acquired by Rockwell Industries, from where she retired in the early 2000's.  In 1975 she married Treutlen County native, Doyle Lawton Stewart.  They made their home in East Dublin where they raised their family and have remained.

Linda enjoyed yardwork, fishing, boating on Lake Sinclair, trips to Pete's Dead River and time spent on Lake Oconee.  She was independent, strong willed, selfless and would not back down from any challenge or situation that might arise.

Her family had multi generational roots in the Five Points area of Treutlen County.  They had been longtime members of Boiling Springs Baptist Church where she had attended as well as, Blackville Church of God and other local churches.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of forty three years, "D. L." Stewart, who passed away in 2018, her siblings, Herbert Gillis, Bobby Gillis, Mary Aills, Tommy Gillis and a nephew, Robert Bobby Aills.

Miss Linda leaves behind: her children, Jody Stewart, East Dublin, GA, Rusty Stewart (Kara), Soperton, GA, Sage Stewart, East Dublin, GA, grandchildren, Andrew Stewart, Lawton Stewart, Skyler Johnson, Kristopher Michael Strong and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at the Trinity Assembly of God in Soperton with Pastor Josh Wood officiating.

Mrs. Stewart will be laid to rest beside her husband in the Holton Chapel Church Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be: Danny Graham, Carl Carter, Peyton Spivey, Jim Spivey, Logan Wynn and Skyler Johnson.

Honorary escorts will be Larry and Terry Henry.

Her family will receive friends on Wednesday, at the church, from 1:30 pm until the hour of service.
