Louise Lizzie
Foskey
Apr 28, 1929 — Aug 5, 2024
Donalsonville
Louise Lizzie Foskey, age 95, formerly of Adrian Ga, passed peacefully Monday morning 05 August 2024, at her residence in Donalsonville, GA. Louise was born on the family farm near Adrian (Johnson County) GA, and spent almost all of her life there.
Visitation for Louise will be Saturday, 10 August 2024, at noon, with funeral services 2:00pm, in Williams Chapel, Sammons Funeral Home, Soperton GA. Pastor Samuel Wesley Foskey of First United Presbyterian Church, Pinckneyville, IL will preside over the service. Louise was a member of Smith Chapel Primitive Baptist Church, adjacent to the old family farmstead. Burial will be at Foskey Cemetery, Hwy 15, outside Adrian GA. Funeral procession will be led by close family friend, Sheriff Greg Rowland.
Louise, a 1946 graduate of Adrian High School, soon began a career in sewing at Apparelcraft Inc., Wrightsville GA, until the plant's closure about 50 years later. She thoroughly enjoyed her talent, making beautiful clothing for friends and relatives, well into her 80s. She enjoyed attending Smith Chapel services, watching Adrian High School basketball, UGA football, arts and crafts, fishing in the family pond(s), volunteering and later, participating in Senior Citizen Center activities in Wrightsville GA.
Her real passion in life was caring for others. For most of her life, she'd rise before daylight, feed her calves morning milk, and perform other farm chores, before cooking breakfast and getting her family ready for school or their workday. In her early years, she helped care for her infirmed mother for decades. When her sister-in-law, Iris Mimbs Foskey suddenly passed at the age of 31, Iris' three children Ronnie, Ronald, and Kenneth came to live with her on the family farm, lovingly taking on a mother figure. In the 80s, she attended to her ailing father until his passing. Shortly after the birth of her great niece, Iris Christine Foskey, she again became a mother figure, raising Iris in the same family farmhouse with Iris' father, Kenneth. Louise truly believed in family, actively participating in the care and lives of her other nieces and nephews, Roger, Hughie, Debra (who lived just across the dirt road), Carlton (of Warner Robins, GA), and Kathryn Michelle (who now lives just down the road).
Miss Foskey was preceded in death by her parents, Gardner Roscoe Foskey and Florence Chance Foskey, siblings, Robert Lee Foskey, Hazel Foskey, William Edgar Foskey, and Lee Roy Foskey, and nephews, Ronnie Lee Foskey and Carlton Glenn Hudgins
She is survived by a sister, Geraldine Newbold, a sister-in-law, Ermie Mimbs Foskey, nephews/nieces, Roger Edgar Foskey (Judy), Hughie Tim Foskey {Rosemary), Ronald Dean Foskey (David Barfield), Debra Ann Claxton, Kenneth Randall Foskey, Kathryn Michelle Dennis, and several great and great great nephews/nieces,
Pallbearers are descendants of Louise's aunt Thelma Mimbs, uncles, Albert Foskey, Clifford Foskey, Grable Foskey, and brothers William Edgar Foskey and Lee Roy Foskey. They are: Mickey Mimbs, Terry Boulineau, Richard Foskey, Craig Foskey, Will Foskey, and Kyle Foskey.
Flowers are appreciated. Any monetary donations will be used for upkeep of the Foskey Cemetery. Provide donations to Louise's nephew, Ronald Foskey, 508 S. Morris Ave, Donalsonville GA 39845.
