Obituary

Mrs. Louvenia J. Cox, age 89, of Soperton, passed away on Saturday morning, August 11, 2018 at the Treutlen County Health and Rehabilitation Center in Soperton.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 in the Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home with Reverend Donny Crosby, officiating.

Her family will receive friends on Tuesday, at the funeral home, from 10:00 o'clock am until the hour of service.

Mrs. Cox will be laid to rest in Red Bluff Cemetery.

Born in Laurens County, she was one of three daughters born to the late Henry Preston and Cleo Lockhart Johnson. As an infant her family moved to Treutlen County. In 1944 she married, Treutlen County native, Marcus A. Cox Jr.  She and her husband made their home in the Orland Community where they resided and raised their children. Mrs. Cox worked for J. P. Stevens for 30 years from where she retired in 1984 as an Inspector.  She was fond of flowers, cake decorating, sewing and cooking.

She had been a longtime member of Red Bluff Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sisters, Mildred and Mary Ellen Young.

She is survived by her husband of 73 years, Marcus "Junior" Cox, their children, Harold Cox (Peggy), Connie Meeler (Herman "Bouncer") all of Soperton, seven grandchildren, Regina Nobles, Jason Cox, Todd Crosby, Dawn Swearingen, April Paramore, Hannah Moore, Jonathan Meeler, ten great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, and two nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be: Sammy and Kenny Young, Gary Walden, Jason Cox, Todd Crosby and Jason Page.
