Mrs. Lucille Reese Kea, age 91, beloved wife of the late Reverend Robert Earl Kea of Soperton passed away on Friday morning, June 12, 2026 at Pruitt Health Hospice in Ashburn, Georgia.
Born in Glascock County, Georgia, she was the last living of ten children born to the late Jim Ed Reese and Nannie Mae Hilson Reese. After high school, she worked at various textile mills before attending Brewton Parker College in Mt. Vernon where she earned her degree as a Parapro. In 1963, she married Reverend Robert E. Kea and she became a Pastor's wife and his right hand. Her husband pastored many various Methodist Churches throughout the state until settling in the Treutlen County area in the late 1970s. Mrs. Keas worked in the Wheeler County Public School System before moving into the Laurens County School System where she served at the East Laurens Elementary School until retiring at the age of sixty two. While working in the school system, her husband realized his vision of founding a facility and ministry to help men needing spiritual guidance and leadership through the rehabilitation from drugs and alcohol. Mrs. Kea served as the cofounder of the CFC and as a mother to many young men as she helped her husband run the Christian Family Center of Treutlen County. Her husband passed away in December of 2017, but she continued to serve as a Board Member and offer her gentle guidance until 2018.
Mrs. Kea enjoyed cooking, serving others and especially sharing her dumplings and cornbread.
In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Alvin Reese, Harris Reese, Allen Reese, Lamar Reese, Connie Reese, Bessie Bone, Essie Griswell, Nanalee Ussry and Ozilla March.
Mrs. Kea leaves behind; daughters, Renee Steverson, Vidalia, GA, Glenda Jo Anderson (Mike), Glenwood, GA, Cynthia "Cindy" Griswell Sercer, Abbeville, GA seven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Sunday, June 14, 2026 at the Christian Family Center, 11180 GA Hwy. 29, Soperton, GA with Pastor Ronnie Trent and Pastor Jeff Mayo officiating.
Mrs. Kea will be laid to rest beside her husband in the Keas Methodist Church Cemetery, Adrian, GA.
Serving as pallbearers will be: Justin Hanner, Paul Arthur, Dustin Davis, Garrett Haner, Rydge Davis and Riley Arthur.
Her family will receive friends on Sunday, at the CFC, from 1:00 o'clock pm until the hour of service.
