Mrs. Marie Helene Pierre, age 67, beloved wife of Editson Pierre Sr. of Miami, Florida joined her angels on Monday, June 24, 2024 at Kindred Hospital South Florida in Hollywood, Florida.
Born in Port De Paix, Haiti, she was the fifth of thirteen children born to Jeancilus Honore and Elisna Dolcine Honore. She and her siblings grew up in Haiti where she met and married Haitian native Editson Pierre Sr. The Pierre's came to the United States and settled in the Miami, Florida area where they made their home. While in Haiti, she attended cooking and baking school and after settling in Florida she attended the Roffler Hair Design College where she graduated with her Associates Degree in Cosmetology. She enjoyed sharing her sewing skills with her daughters and her classmates as well as the delicacies prepared in her kitchen. She and her husband enjoyed the diverse cultures of South Florida, their close proximity to Biscayne Bay and therefore chose to remain there to raise their children.
Mrs. Pierre held fast to her Haitian roots through her enjoyment of Haitian music and foods. She enjoyed singing, dancing, whistling (yes, whistling), traveling, gardening, sharing her green thumb tips and plant knowledge as well as reading and making scrap books for sharing with her future generations.
She is preceded in death by a young son, Javier Pierre, that passed away at the age of six.
Mrs. Pierre leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband of fifty two years, Editson Pierre Sr., Miami, FL, their children, Brenda Pierre, Miami, FL, Edithe Pierre (Jose Castillo), Union City, GA, Carlson Pierre, Miami, FL, Editson Pierre Jr., Miami, FL, her beloved grandchildren, Dahlia Dessalines, Darius D. Dessalines, Eva Castillo, Xavier Castillo, many siblings and countless nieces and nephews.
At 11:00 o'clock a.m. on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 her family will gather at the graveside in the Pierre Family Cemetery in the Oglethorpe Community of Treutlen County to lay her body to rest.
