Mrs. Marilyn Jeanette Suggs Smith, age 84, passed away at the home of her daughter in Benton, Tennessee on Friday morning, February 23, 2024.

Born in Wauchula, Florida, she was one of nine children born to the late Reverend B.W. Suggs and Minnie Mae Atkins Suggs.  As a young child, her family moved to the Bradenton area with her father's pastoral responsibilities where she grew up and attended school in the Manatee County Public School System.   She married Malcolm DeWitt Smith with whom she shared six children.  As a wife, mother and homemaker, she enjoyed her role as each in providing for each of their needs.

Being raised in the home of a Church of God pastor, she has always remained true to her deep-rooted beliefs and faith.  She was a member of Blackville Church of God in Adrian.

Mrs. Smith was an avid reader and enjoyed walking, until her health would no longer support that desire.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Malcolm DeWitt Smith, who passed away in 2005, a son, James DeWitt Smith. a daughter, Sabrina Smith Tanner, a son in law, Lenny Jurgonski, a grandson, Jody Smith and siblings, Edsell Suggs, Vesta Branson, Alice Lee, Mary Gauze and Lela Mae Davis.

Mrs. Smith leave behind, children, Sharon Schauer (Richard), Benton, TN, Sheila Jurgonski, Norton, KA, Bobby Smith, Bradenton, FL, two brothers, Allen Suggs, Daytona Beach, FL, Wilbur Suggs, Nashville, TN, grandchildren, Jeanett Kennedy, Tamara Starky, Michael Jurgonski, Richard Schauer Jr., Crystal Rapond, Monica Jurgonski, Frank "Bo" Tanner Jr., Norton, KA, Kyle Tanner, Tennille, GA, seventeen great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 in the Williams Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home.

Mrs. Smith will be laid to rest, beside her husband, in the Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery.

Her family will receive friends on Tuesday, at the funeral home, from 11:00 o'clock am, until the hour of service.

Serving as pallbearers will be: Bo Tanner, Richard Schauer Jr., Kyle Tanner, Aaron Pearson and Cameron Tanner.
