Mrs. Martha Jean Kersey, age 65, beloved wife of Benton Kersey of Collins, GA passed away at their home on Tuesday morning, November 25, 2025.

Born in Treutlen County, she was the youngest of six children born to the late Levi Darden and Martha Mae McGahee Darden.  She grew up in Soperton where she attended Soperton High School.  She had worked at the Soperton Shirt Factory and the Woolen Mill before working as a CNA at Bethany Oaks Health and Rehabilitation Center in Vidalia.  In the mid 1990s  she accepted a position at the Georgia State Prison in Reidsville where she remained until retiring in 2018.

She enjoyed fishing and trips to Jekyll Island as often as possible.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two sons, Daniel White, Daniel Kersey and siblings, James Darden, Linton Darden, Charles Darden and Lillian Joiner.

Miss. Martha leaves behind, her husband of thirty-five years, Benton Kersey, Collins, GA, sons, Jeremy "Shane" White (Jessica), Soperton, GA, Brian Kersey (Melinda), Lyons, GA, daughters, Lavada Booth, Toombs County, GA, Victoria Turner, Uvalda, GA, her last living sister, Rosemary Lampp, Soperton, GA, a special grandson, Aiden White; followed by many other grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Friday, November 28, 2025 in the Williams Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home with Pastor Albert White officiating.

She will be laid to rest adjacent to her parents in the Pine Crest Cemetery, Vidalia, GA.

Her family will receive friends on Friday from 11:00 am until the hour of the service at Sammons Funeral Home..
