Obituary

Mr. Marvin Keen, age 72 of Mt. Vernon, passed away on Thursday, June 2, 2022 at Meadows Regional Medical Center in Vidalia.

Marvin was born in Soperton, one of nine children born to the late Verlon and Jackquline Kicklighter Keen.  He grew up in Soperton and was a lifelong resident of the Soperton and Mt. Vernon area.  He worked a paper delivery route for the Dublin Courier Herald before launching a yard maintenance business that he operated for many years.

Marvin was an accomplished artist, enjoyed raising flowers and singing for the residents at the Treutlen Living Center.  He was a former member of Harmony Baptist Church and had been a longtime member of the Blackville Church of God.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by siblings, Bobby Dean Horne, Virgil Lee Keen, Lamar Keen and an infant sister, Wanita Keen.

Marvin leaves behind: siblings, Jerry Keen (Phyllis Davis), Soperton, GA, Carolyn K. Lanford, Soperton, Lillian K. Gregory, Swainsboro, GA. Ralph Ray Keen, Swainsboro, GA, Tommy Keen, Swainsboro, a son, James Keen, Lithonia, GA, an aunt, Marjorie Keen, Dublin, GA, a cousin and longtime caregiver, Angela Pritchard, Mt. Vernon, GA and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 in the Williams Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home with Pastors Barry Peavey and W.R. Connell officiating..

Marvin will be laid to rest in Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery.

His family will receive friends on Monday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the funeral home.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be:  The Honeybunch Group, Joshua and Meghan Lane and Charles Webb.

In lieu of flowers his family requests contributions be made to his sister, Lillian Gregory, 319 North Old Reidsville Rd., Swainsboro, GA  30401
