Mrs. Mary Ann Hutcheson, age 76 formerly of Soperton and the Meeks Community passed away on Wednesday afternoon, May 15, 2019 at Manor Lake of Bridge Mill in Canton, Georgia.

Born in Tarrytown, she was one of four children born to the late Herbert and Bert Sweat Brown. She and her siblings grew up in Soperton where she graduated from Soperton High School, Class of 1960. In 1961 she married Meeks native Joel L. Hutcheson. The newlyweds lived in Atlanta while Joel completed his degree from Georgia Tech. As their family began to grow, they lived in various locations throughout the southeast. The family returned to Soperton in 1974 where she worked at Sweat's BBQ and also assisted Dr. John Pournelle in his dental practice. In later years, she and her husband made their home in the Meeks Community. Her husband passed away in 2016.

Mrs. Hutcheson was known for her cooking skills and sharing her dishes with friends and family. She never met a stranger and had many friends throughout the communities where she lived. She enjoyed her home in Meeks where she loved fishing and sitting on the front porch admiring nature.

She had been a lifelong member of the Soperton First Baptist Church until moving to Meeks when she joined Corinth United Methodist Church. After moving to North Georgia in 2017, she attended the Northside Church of Christ in Jasper, where she received much love and support.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a brother, Jim Brown.

Mrs. Hutcheson leaves behind her children, Mark Hutcheson (Sue), Canton, GA, Laurie Peavy, Meeks, GA, Michael Hutcheson (Meredith), Conyers, GA, a sister, Lynette Nelson, Ellijay, GA, a brother, Lamar Brown (Kristin), Pensacola, FL, grandchildren, Lindsey Doss (Matt), Brooks Hutcheson (Hannah), Clint Hutcheson, Melanie Mainor (Brian), Lauren Hutcheson, Dylan Hutcheson, Mary Kathryn Hutcheson, a great grandson, River Hutcheson and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 3:30 pm on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at Corinth United Methodist Church in Johnson County with Reverend Hugh Baxter officiating.

Mrs. Hutcheson will be laid to rest beside her husband in the church cemetery.

Her family will receive friends on Saturday, at the church, from 2:30 pm until the hour of service; or beginning Friday afternoon at the family home in the Meeks Community.
