Mrs. Mary Ellen Johnson Young, age 92, of Soperton died Saturday, August 5, 2017.

Mrs. Young was born in Laurens County and was preceded in death by her parents, Henry P. and Cleo Lockhart Johnson, husband of sixty-three years, Eddie B. Young, and sister, Mildred Young.  She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Young at Heart.  She was a homemaker and the oldest member of Red Bluff Baptist Church, Treutlen County.

Survivors include her sister and brother-in-law, Louvenia and Marcus A. Cox, Jr.; nephews, Sammy (Donna) Young of Wrightsville, Kenny (Emma) Young of Rockledge, Harold (Peggy) Cox of Soperton, and Delton (Charlene) Lampp of Dublin;  nieces, Connie (Herman) Meeler of Soperton, Patsy Johnson of Kite, and Von Price of Swainsboro;  several great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

Funeral services will be held in Red Bluff Baptist Church at 2 o'clock Tuesday, August 8, with Dr. Tom Akins and Reverend Donny Crosby officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery with Sammons Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and may be reached at the family residence.
