Mrs. Matilda Smith Meadows, age 95 of Adrian, passed away on Saturday morning, March 10, 2018 at Augusta University Medical Center in Augusta, Georgia.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 in the Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home with Reverend David Oliver and a nephew, Hugh Walker, officiating.

Mrs. Meadows will be laid to rest beside her husband in Mount Zion Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Adrian.

Her family will receive friends on Wednesday, at the funeral home, from 10:00 am until the hour of the service.

Born in Emanuel County, she was one of seven children born to the late Angus Gillis Smith and Nancy Lula Barwick Smith. In 1947 she married Dewey Ammon Meadows. They lived in Columbus for a few years until moving back to Adrian in 1956. Mrs. Meadows was the school Secretary at the Adrian School from 1965 until retiring in 1985.

Mrs. Meadows was Baptist by faith.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Mr. Dewey A. Meadows, brothers and sisters, Charlie Smith, Clifton Smith, Leon Smith, Lillie Mae Hooks and Artie Lou Irvin.

She leaves behind, a son, Mike Meadows and his wife, Carolyn, Lilburn, GA, two daughters, Melanie Hood, Dublin, GA, Debra "Debbie" Annette Meadows, Adrian, GA, one sister, Marietta Palmer, Adrian, GA, grandchildren, Sarah Edmonds, Michael Meadows, Rachel Meadows, Leah Waller, Jamie Hood, Laurie Herman, seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
