Mr. Michael Arthur "Mike" Monroe, age 65, beloved husband of the late Carol Jane Bennett Monroe passed away on Wednesday morning, June 1, 2022 at the Treutlen County Health and Rehabilitation Center in Soperton.
Born in Macon, Georgia, he was one of five children born to the late Jack Earl Monroe and Audrey Dudley Steptoe. He grew up in Scott and was raised by his grandparents, Gladys and Cornelius Dudley. He lived his lifetime in the Scott, Adrian, Tarrytown and Soperton areas. Mr. Monroe was a hard worker and had worked for a period of time at Claxton Poultry before spending many years working in the Residential Construction Industry, before retiring in 2005.
He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.
Mr. Monroe had attended the Scott Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, parents and grandparents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Daniel Garland "Danny" Smith, Jimmy Monroe, an infant sister, Jackie Diane Monroe and a grandson, Gabriel Daniel Monroe.
Mr. Monroe leaves behind his children, Michael "Arty" Monroe, Statesboro, GA, Joshua Albert "Josh" Monroe (Khristal), Pooler, GA, Ron Winters (Carol), Soperton, GA, Donna Jane Winters, Tarrytown, GA, Shirley Ann Davison, Purvis, MS, siblings, Rene Thomas, Dublin, GA, Dianne Lord, Toomsboro, GA, Lisa Arpasi (Russ), Albuquerque, NM, a brother, Mark Monroe, FL, grandchildren, Ezekiel Luke Monroe, Jim Davison, Ronnie Davison, Olivia Winters, Ronald Winters, Felicia Winters, Michelle Winters, Jeremy Winters, Jamie Winters, Amanda Stafford, eighteen great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 4, 2022 in the Williams Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home with Reverend Allen Green officiating.
Mr. Monroe will be laid to rest beside his wife in Poplar Springs Methodist Church Cemetery.
His family will receive friends on Friday, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Sammons Funeral Home.
Serving as pallbearers will be: Stephen Stafford, Ron Winters, Matthew Dent, Jeffery Toler, Ricky Thomas, Ronald Winters, J. P. Pace, Andrew Beck and Jamie Thomas.
