Obituary

Mrs. Mittie W. Phillips, age 86, of Soperton died Tuesday, March 7, 2017.

Mrs. Phillips was born in Emanuel County and was preceded in death by her parents, Priest and Laura Agerton Williamson; husband, Frank "Shorty" Phillips; daughters, Dean Hadden and Laura Stewart; grandson, Chad Winge; and several brothers and sisters.  She was retired from Woolrich, Soperton, after thirty-four years and was a member of Harmony Baptist Church, Treutlen County.

Survivors include her children, Johnny (Beth) Phillips, Billy (Susan) Phillips, Sheila (Tom) Bush, Donna (Ken) Pollette, all of Soperton, Victor (Gary) Phillips of Vidalia, Tamara (George) Crooke of Woodbine, and Rodney (Betty) Phillips of Ludowici; sisters, Frances Hart and Faye Hutcheson, both of Vidalia, and Lula Mae Sikes of Oak Park; eighteen grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home, Soperton, at 11 o'clock Friday, March 10, with Sheriff Tommy Corbin, Reverend Mark Sweat, and Pastor Gilbert Posey officiating.  Burial will be in John W. Phillips Cemetery, Treutlen County.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Craig Phillips, Derek Phillips, John Phillips, Jesse Phillips, Jared Phillips, and Dillion Phillips.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and may be reached at the family residence.

The family wishes to acknowledge ResCare and Community Hospice, Vidalia, for the kind and loving assistance they have shown.
