Mrs. Myrtice "Myrt" Estelle Colley Young, age 97, beloved wife of the late Ellie J. Young, of the Rockledge Community, passed away on Wednesday morning, Jan 14, 2026 at Scott Health and Rehabilitation Center in Scott, GA.
Born in Blackshear, Georgia, she was the 2nd oldest of four children born to the late Gordon Franklin Colley and Ora Lee Cornelius Colley. She grew up in Blackshear and was a graduate of Pierce County High School. After high school she married Edward Elliott Altman with whom she had three children. She had worked in the cafeteria within the Laurens County School System, the East Dublin Pharmacy and was a Volunteer with Meals on Wheels. Her husband passed away in 1998. She later married Mr. Ellie J. Young, who passed away in 2012.
Mrs. Young had been a longtime member of Union Baptist Church and was presently the oldest living member.
In addition to her husbands, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Carol Altman Powell, a son, Paul Altman, daughter in law, Margaret Altman and siblings, Lewis Colley and Frances McCullars.
She leaves behind, one son, Ronnie Altman, Magnolia, TX, a sister, Shirley Fae Stalvey, Callahan, FL, 10 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, one great great grand-daughter and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Sunday, January 18, 2026 at the Union Baptist Church in the Rockledge Community with Pastors Barron Powell and Jordy Barwick officiating.
Mrs. Young will be laid to rest between her husband and her daughter in the Thigpen Cemetery, Rockledge.
Serving as pallbearers will be: Ronnie Altman, Alan Altman, Rhys Altman, Joe Paul Altman, Rusty Branch and Sammy Young.
Her family will receive friends on Sunday, from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at the church.
