Nancy Louise Hester Douglas, age 77, of Soperton passed away in the early morning hours on Friday, August 31, 2018 at the Community Hospice in Vidalia, Georgia.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 pm on Sunday, September 2, 2018 in the Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home with Reverend Robert Pickett officiating.

Burial will follow in Red Bluff Cemetery.

Her family will receive friends on Saturday from 4:00 – 6:00 pm at the funeral home.

Born in Aquone, NC she was the daughter of the late George Eugene and Nora Gay Wikle Chastain. She grew up in Nantahala, NC where she was a graduate of Nantahala High School. She had lived and worked in Washington, DC and Florida for a period of time before moving to the Soperton area in the late 1960s. She married Leon Hester in the early 1970s. Mrs. Hester had worked as an Office Manager for 20 years with Telescript Cable and Scripts Howard in Mt. Vernon before joining Comcast Cable in Glenwood. She later worked at WalMart in Vidalia.

She had attended Red Bluff Baptist Church and was a former member of the Rebel Rousers Square Dancers.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Leon Hester and a son, Kevin Leon Hester.

She is survived by children, Dinah Barahona, Soperton, GA, Deric Hester (Monica), Soperton, GA, Rhonda Foust, Dalton, GA, a brother, Rodney Lamar Chastain (Sue Ellen), Franklin, NC, ten grandchildren, three great grandchildren and a niece and nephew.

Serving as pallbearers will be: Randy Love, Chad Hester, Edward Bridges, Alan Bridges, Tony Hester and Dewey Lee Hester.
