Obituary

Mr. Nicky Alfonso, age 71, beloved husband of Debby F. Alfonso of Adrian passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, July 25, 2023 at their home.

Born in Dublin, Nicky was the only son and the youngest of two children born to the late Donald Leo Alfonso and Jacqueline Thompson Alfonso. He grew up in Adrian and was a graduate of Adrian High School, Class of 1969.  After high school, Nicky graduated from Geogia Southwestern College in Americus before enrolling and graduating from Middle Georgia State University in Cochran with his Bachelors Degree in Business. Nick began working in the floor covering industry during high school with the late Johnny Williams.  He and his wife Debby founded and operated Nick's Carpet and Floor Covering in Adrian until his health recently declined.  Over the past fifty four years, he has spent countless hours on his knees working for and serving others in beautifying untold numbers of homes and businesses throughout the state of Georgia.

Nicky has been a lifelong resident of Adrian and even though he lived in the county, he supported the town of Adrian.  He was active in local activities, served as President of the Chamber of Commerce and was known to be vocal on local topics that he felt passionate about.

Nicky enjoyed working, whether it be flooring, preparing food plots and shooting lanes for hunters or simply pulling his grandchildren behind his old John Deere "Elmo", in a big discarded cardboard box.  He was always looking for ways to help others, through his church or any other way where he saw a need.  He enjoyed picking on his flattop acoustic guitar, of which he was self taught and very accomplished.

Nicky was a lifelong Methodist and a member of the Kea's Memorial Church.

Mr. Alfonso leaves behind his wife of thirty three years, Debby Fomuke Alfonso, Adrian, GA, children, Vince Alfonso (Hana), Adrian, GA, Crystal Alfonso, Vidalia, GA, Nathan Rutherford (Becky), Norristown, GA, Renee' Price (Tim), Kite, GA, Ken "Bubba" Rutherford (Sherry), Glenwood, GA, his sister, Donna Brown, Madison, GA, nine grandchildren, Hanley Moorman, Finley Kayte Alfonso, Harrison Rutherford, Macy Price, Brooke Gay, Chase Price, Aiden Rutherford, Maddox Rutherford and Mallory Rutherford, three great grandchildren, Lakelynn Gay, Carleigh Gay, Violet Dowdy and a niece, Daneka Nolte.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 pm on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at Keas Memorial Church, Adrian, GA with Pastor Mark Hardin officiating.
