Obituary

Mr. Paul E. Burns, age 89, of Soperton died Thursday, May 25, 2017.

Mr. Burns was born in Ringwood, OK and was preceded in death by his parents, Letson J. and Goldia Swafford Burns, and twelve brothers and sisters.  He was retired from the United States Navy having served in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam for a total of twenty-two years of service.  He was a member of the VFW and American Legion Post 59.  He was a retired school teacher having taught in Laurens and Treutlen County School systems and was a member of St. Mark Church of the Nazarene, Treutlen County.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-seven years, Dorothy N. Graham Burns; children, Allen (Patty) Graham of Roanoke, VA, Paula (Vic) Ablang of California, Carol (Donnie) Stinson of Dublin, Cheryl (Robert) Parsons, and Bobby (Rena) Burns, all of Soperton;  brother, Leland (Evelene) King of Lenexa, KS; thirteen grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home at 11 o'clock Saturday, May 27, with Reverend Randy Smith and Reverend George Grimes officiating.  Burial will be in Westview Cemetery, Soperton, with military honors provided by the US Navy.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 6 to 8 p.m.
