Obituary

Mrs. Peggy Ann Holton Norris, age 80, beloved wife of the late Billy Wayne Norris of Soperton, passed  away peacefully on Saturday morning, July 8, 2023 at her home, surrounded by her family.

A native and lifelong resident of Treutlen County, she was one of five children born to the late Oscar Odene Holton and Dorothy Irene Poole Holton.   While still attending Soperton High School, at the age of sixteen, she began a long career in the Textile Industry.  She worked as a Machine Operator at Soperton Manufacturing as well as Roydonwear, from where she retired as a Supervisor in 2000.

Miss Peggy enjoyed her church, her friends, reading and trips to Cherokee, North Carolina.

She was a lifelong member of Bethsaida Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of sixty three years, Billy Wayne Norris, a sister, Tiny Lou Holton and a brother, Oscar Samuel Holton.

Miss Peggy leaves behind her children, Eddie Duane Norris and his wife, Veronica of the Lothair Community of Soperton GA, Debbie Norris of Soperton, GA, two sisters, Edith Holton Watson (Joel, Macon, GA, Karene Holton McGee, Soperton, GA, grandchildren, Brandon, Chris and Jordan Norris, Chris Roland, Heather Braddy (Garrett), Markie Johnson (Alayanah), ten great grandchildren, a special friend and caregiver, Dave Patterson and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 pm on Sunday, July 9, 2023 in the Williams Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home with Pastor Glenn Pullian officiating.

Mrs. Norris will be laid to rest beside her husband in the Bethsaida Cemetery.

Her family will receive friends on Sunday, at the funeral home, from 3:00 pm until the hour of service or friends and family may call at the family's home.

Serving as pallbearers will be: Jerry Redfern, Wayne Morris, Ricky Morris, George Claxton, Allen Ambrose and Rodney Byrd.

Serving as honorary escorts will be: Beverly Collier, Sheila Patrick, Patricia McNeal, Sheryl Morris, Bobby Claxton, Linda Grinstead, Pat Pullian, Rachael Nasworthy, Kenny Barrick, Maxine Dorsey, Kerin Armstrong and Denise Johnson.
