Mrs. Peggy Jean "Patty" Copeland Ricks, age 62, beloved wife of the late Sammy Darwin Ricks Sr., of Adrian, passed away at their home on Monday evening, June 10, 2019.

Born in Dublin, she was one of eight children born to the late Noah and Lizzie Jane Hartley Copeland. She grew up in Johnson County and in 1974 married Emanuel County native Sammy Ricks. They made their home in Emanuel County where she worked to make a home for her family; as a wife and mother.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by a son, Sammy "Buddy" Ricks, Jr. and three sisters, Susie Boyles, Nancy Brantley, and Mary Smith.

Patty leaves behind: children, Pam Ricks, Adrian, GA, Gail Pritchett (Bobby), Jackson, GA, Allen Ricks, Dublin, Terry Ricks (Sandra), Dublin, GA, Jerry Ricks, Sandersville, GA, Tammy Shepherd Scarboro, Harrison, GA, James Dennis Shepherd, Dublin, four brothers, Pete, Paul, Harry and Henry Copeland, sixteen grandchildren, several great grandchildren, several great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Friday, June 14, 2019 from the graveside in Ricksville Cemetery as she is laid to rest beside her husband.

Her family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Sammons Funeral Home, Soperton, GA.
