Mr. Philip Moye Avery, age 78, of Adrian died Friday, September 29, 2017.

Mr. Avery was born in Laurens County and was preceded in death by his father, Rufus Avery; grandparents, Henry and Addie Lee Thigpen; uncle, Holmes Thigpen; and aunt, Alma Youngblood.  He was a graduate of Soperton High School and the University of Georgia where he was a member of the Kappa Sig Fraternity.  He lived most of his life in Atlanta where he was owner and operator of Avery Fine Arts and Framing.

Survivors include his mother, Robbie Thigpen Avery of Adrian; aunt, Inez Mullis of Soperton; cousins, Peggy (Robbie) Hooks, Teresa Thigpen, and Kathy Tapley, all of Adrian, and David Mullis of Live Oak, Florida and several other cousins.

Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home at 2 o'clock Monday, October 2, with Reverend Mark Sweat officiating.

A visitation will be held at the funeral home one hour before the services on Monday.
