Mr. Radine Ward, age 83, of Mount Vernon, died on Wednesday morning, November 1, 2017 at Glenwood Healthcare.
Mr. Ward was born in Mt. Vernon and moved with his family to Atlanta, GA area as a teenager. He had worked in the Drywall and Insulation Industry for many years owning Ward's Drywall in Roswell before returning to Mt. Vernon in 1979. After coming back to Mt. Vernon he worked with James Taylor Drywall until retiring in 1996. He was a U. S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Ward is preceded in death by his parents, Charles Alex and Mabell Cooper Ward, his former wife, Jonnie Bell Ward and a sister, Lorene Elizabeth "Sister" Ward.
He is survived by: his wife, Betty Fountain Ward, Mt. Vernon, children, Danny Ward (Mandy), Alpharetta, GA, Michael Ward, Roberta, GA, Billy Fountain (Jewell), Vidalia, GA, Larry Fountain (Karen), Mt. Vernon, GA, Ted Fountain (Kathy), Ailey, GA, Lisa Palmer (William), Vidalia, GA, Rhonda Woods (Billy Joe), Alston, GA, two brothers, Bobby Joe Ward (JoAnn), Mt. Vernon, GA, William Ward (Charlotte), Monticello, GA, a sister, Betty Patrick (Cleo), Mt. Vernon, thirteen grandchildren, numerous great and great- great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at the First Baptist Church of Mt. Vernon with Reverend Karl Hay, officiating.
Mr. Ward will be laid to rest in Westview Cemetery, Soperton, GA.
Serving as pallbearers will be: Matthew Reynolds, Patrick Fountain, Kevin Ward, William Fountain, Trent Fountain, D.J. Fountain, Skylar Baughman, Nate Cross, Joshua Williamson, Hunter Conner and Johnny Partin.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Gary Braddy, Pete Braddy, Kelly Braddy, J.D. Selph, Jeffrey Walrath and Tristan Cross.
His family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Sammons Funeral Home in Soperton.
