Obituary

Mr. Ralph Beasley, age 87, beloved husband of the late Cornelia Lee Phillips Beasley of Beasley Hill passed away on Wednesday morning, September 16, 2020 at the Grand Strand Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Born in Treutlen County, he was the second of six children born to the late Tommy Evans Beasley and Martha Missouri Smith Beasley.  The Beasley family moved around for work purposes as the children were growing up but settles back in Treutlen County.   Mr. Beasley had worked as a Police Officer in Dublin, Kite and Adrian, as a prison guard in Reidsville and as a Security Guard in Vidalia. Being raised in the depression era, he spent many days working in the tobacco and cotton fields while learning the value of a dollar and the meaning of being thrifty and "making do with what you had".   True to that mindset; his children recall in the late 1970's that he built their home by hand; with no power tools and used timber from their property for much of the lumber used in the framing. Mr. Beasley loved his chewing tobacco and reading the local newspapers and especially medical books. A man of faith, he had a strong belief in Jesus and the power of prayer.

He was the committed husband of 65 years to Cornelia Lee Phillips Beasley, who passed away in April of this year.

In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by three brothers, Felt, Gene and Herman Beasley.

Mr. Beasley leaves behind his children, Terry Beasley (Abbie), Tammie Powell (Joey), his brother, Otha Beasley (Mable), his baby sister, June Beasley Scott (Johnny Roy), grandchildren, Jessy Beasley (Jessica), Jennifer Macon (Chris), Jodi Beasley (Chana), Amy Lyles (Kyle), Matthew Powell, great grandchildren, Caleb Macon, Khloe Lyles, several nieces and nephews and numerous cousins and friends, all of Soperton, Georgia.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 pm on Saturday, September 19, 2020 from the graveside in Beasley Cemetery with Pastor Alan Green officiating.

Mr. Beasley will be laid to rest beside his wife.
