Mr. Randell Meeks, age 73 of the Orland Community of Treutlen County turned his last wrench and entered eternal life on Saturday evening, May 29, 2021 at Community Hospice in Vidalia.

A native and lifelong resident of Treutlen County, he was one of five children born to the late Harvey Washington Meeks and Flossie Bussell Meeks.  Randell grew up in the Orland Community and was a graduate of Treutlen County High School, Class of 1966.  Mr. Meeks life was centered around the automotive industry, up until his death.  He was a General Motors Certified Master Mechanic and had worked as Parts Manager and Service Manager at various dealerships , to include: Peacock Chevrolet and Pitts Pontiac Buick in Dublin before opening his own shop, Meeks Service Center in Treutlen County.  He continued to operate his garage until the time of his passing.

Randell was an avid dirt track enthusiast that created a name for himself in the, hobby class and later mini stock class, racing circuit to include Swainsboro, Cochran, Dublin, Golden Isles and other area tracks.  He set many records and was chased by many competing drivers (but never caught).  Later in life, he enjoyed many hours on his tractors and backhoe.

He grew up in Red Bluff Baptist Church and attended the Anchor of Hope Worship Center in Soperton.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Ann Meeks, who passed away in 1942 and a daughter, Lynn Hall who passed away in 1996.

Mr. Meeks leaves behind, his wife of 31 years, Mary Ann Starley Meeks, children, Becky Browning (Delmas). Scott, GA, Lu Anne Barber (Dickie), Wrightsville, GA, Michelle Hall, Scott, GA, Randell Meeks (Shelia), Minter Community, GA, Chris Meeks (Kasey), Treutlen County, GA, Marty Meeks (Christy), Orland Community, GA, Bobby Meeks, Orland Community, GA, Jay Starley (Tina), Rockledge, GA, Jeffrey Starley (LeAnn), Rockledge, GA, twenty one grandchildren, several great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at the Anchor of Hope Worship Center with Pastor Gilbert Posey and Pastor Milton Thomas officiating.

Mr. Meeks will be laid to rest on his property at Meeks Family Cemetery in the Orland Community of Treutlen County.

His family will receive friends on Monday, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the church.
