Mrs. Reba Ireatha (Moore) Smith, age 85 of Soperton passed away on Saturday evening, May 18, 2019 at Community Hospice in Vidalia, Georgia.
Born in Athens, AL, she was the eldest of eight children born to the late Dallas Blackburn and Ottie Lou Adams Moore. She attended high school in Alabama and in later years graduated from Swainsboro Technical College, with honors, where she majored in Tax Preparation, Accounting and Data Processing.
Mrs. Smith lived for a number of years in the Johnson County / Wrightsville area for a number of years before moving to Soperton in 2003. She had been a Newspaper Carrier for the Dublin Courier Herald, delivering the Johnson and Laurens County route during the late 1980s and 1990s.
Mrs. Smith had been a longtime member of the Church of Christ.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Edward Lee Smith, who passed away in 2009, a daughter, Rebecca Lynn Moore, three brothers, Leon, Jerry and Harold Moore and a sister, Louise Ratley.
She leaves behind her children, James E. Smith (Sherri), Dublin, GA, Betty Olive Hodges (Neil), Statesboro, GA, Dallas Franklin Smith, Soperton, GA, Wyman Lee Smith, Soperton, GA, three sisters, Bertha Lou Dowling, Sebring, FL, Nancy McClellan, Jacksonville, FL, Priscilla Yates, Palatka, FL, fifteen grandchildren, thirty nine great grandchildren, nine great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm on Thursday, May 23, 2019 in the Williams Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home with Keith Wolfe officiating.
Mrs. Smith will be laid to rest beside her husband in the Kite City Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be: Jesse, Jeremy, Blake and Chaz Brooks, Gaje McGowan and Edwin Moore.
Her family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
