Mr. Richard Lee McLendon, age 68 of the Orianna Community of Soperton passed away on Tuesday morning, December 24, 2019 at Fairview Park Hospital.

Born in Dublin, he was the second of three sons born to the late Herbert and Reba Florence Hall McLendon. Mr. McLendon grew up in Orianna and was a graduate of Treutlen County High School, Class of 1971. After high school, he worked at J. P. Stevens as a Machine Operator for approximately 32 years. After leaving J. P. Stevens in the early 2000s he drove a truck until retiring in 2014.

Richard was a member of Oak Chapel Church and had attended Orianna Baptist Church. He enjoyed a good time and making others smile; whether with a joke or a simple kind gesture.

He leaves behind his wife, Janice Ussery McLendon, his two brothers, Donald Lay McLendon, Alan McLendon, all of Orianna, children, Michael Richard Tyson, Adrian, GA, Roxanne Tyson, Orianna, GA, Cecil Wade Tyson (Naomi), Dublin, GA, eight grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Friday, December 27, 2019 in the Williams Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home with Reverend Arthur Conley officiating.

Mr. McLendon will be laid to rest in Bethsaida Cemetery.

His family will receive friends on Thursday, December 26, 2019 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the funeral home or friends may call at his home.
