Ms. Robbie Thigpen Avery, age 98, of Adrian, passed away with her caregivers and family by her side, early on Monday evening, June 11, 2018 at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday. June 14, 2018 in the chapel of Sammons Funeral Home, Soperton with Pastors Mark Sweat and Arthur Conley officiating.

Miss Robbie will be laid to rest beside her beloved son, Philip Moye Avery in Westview Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be: Clint Thigpen, Glen Brinson, Ken Garrett, Richard Braddy, and Mark and Joe Dombroski.

Her family will receive friends on Thursday, at the funeral home, from 1:00 pm until the hour of service.

She was born in Johnson County, one of six children born to the late, Henry Hardee and Addie Lee Holmes Thigpen. After graduating from Soperton High School in 1936 she attended beauty school in Macon. She later returned to Soperton and open Robbie's Beauty Shop that she operated for over 56 years.

Miss Robbie was a member of the First Baptist Church of Soperton.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Philip Moye Avery, three sisters, Alma Youngblood, Wastine Thigpen, Ruby Thigpen and a brother, Holmes Thigpen.

She is survived by: her sister, Inez Mullis, Soperton, nieces, Peggy Hooks (Robbie), Teresa Thigpen, Kathy Tapley, all of Adrian, a nephew, David Mullis, Live Oak, FL, her loving caregivers, Ruby Givens, Soperton, GA, Patricia Miller, Adrian, GA, great nephews, Robert and John Hooks and a great niece, Emily Garner.
