Obituary

Mr. Robert Lee "Robbie" Toler, age 74, beloved husband of Darlene Turner Toler, of Soperton passed away on Tuesday afternoon, February 15, 2022 at Doctors Hospital in Augusta.

Born in Treutlen County, he was the twelfth of sixteen children born to the late William Howard Toler and Willie Ann Hutcheson Toler.  As a young teenager the family moved to Central Florida.  Shortly after settling there his father became ill and Robbie took on the role of working and providing for the family.  He enlisted and served in the U.S. Army from 1966 – 1968 during which time he continued to provide for his family even while serving in Vietnam.  Upon being honorably discharged he returned to his family and in 1971 married Astatula, Florida native Pansy Darlene Turner.  They remained in Florida until returning to his home of Treutlen County in 1974.    Mr. Toler was a skilled craftsman; working as an Electrician at Adrian Homes for twenty five years before opening his own company, Toler Construction.  He was an accomplished carpenter, plumber, mechanic, engineer and master of many trades; primarily possessing whatever skill was needed to fix whatever might need mending.  He was sought after by many locals to fix farm machinery and keep their much needed equipment running.  He loved time spent outdoors, fishing and being with his family.

Mr. Toler was a former member of Harmony Baptist Church and was presently a member at Holton Chapel Advent Christian Church.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his best friend and companion, Buddy; his cross bred Dachshund and Beagle, a grand daughter, Cheyene Leigh Kittrell, siblings, Lugena Beasley, Lunette Prevatt, Mary Magdalene "Tinnie" Weeks, Pauline Toler, Willie Mae Toler, William Ernest "Bill" Toler, Arthur Toler, C. J. Toler, Bobby Toler and his infant twin, James Lewis "Hoss" Toler, Frank Toler.

Mr. Toler leaves behind, his wife of fifty one years, Darlene Toler, Soperton, GA, their daughter, Lisa Ann Kittrell (Stacy), Rockledge, GA, granddaughter, Kalya Ann "Kayla Bug" Kittrell, three sisters, Reba Graham, Zaidee community, Soperton, GA, Sarah Ann "Patty" Bickle, Little Rock, AR, Florence Ann Davis, Jessup, GA and countless nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 19, 2022 in the Williams Chapel of Samons Funeral Home with his nephew, Albert White and Pastor Morris Brantley officiating.

Mr. Toler will be laid to rest in Holton Chapel Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be: nephews, Billy Toler, Tony Shedlowski, Michael Rogers, Spencer Davis, Billy Davis, Keith Weeks and Ricky Clark.

His family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Sammons Funeral Home.
