Mr. Billy Loyd, age 75, of Minter passed away on Friday afternoon, July 3, 2020 at Navicent Health in Macon, Georgia.
Born in Laurens County, he was the only son and one of four children born to the late Delma "Bill" Loyd and Louise Boone Loyd. Mr. Loyd grew up in the Minter Community and attended the Wilkes School and East Laurens High School. While in high school, he met East Dublin native Katherine "Kathy" Morris whom he would marry in 1963. Mr. Loyd worked at the J. P. Stevens mill before beginning a long career as a Carpenter. He worked in both the Industrial Commercial and Residential aspects of construction; most recently with Dublin Construction, until retiring in the late 1990s. After retiring, he pursued his outside interests to include hunting, fishing, helping others with their projects, staying close to home and his daily appointment with his wife, Kathy, to watch their westerns. Mr. Loyd and his wife have been foster parents for over forty years; fostering over five hundred children.
He was a member of Minter Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three sons, Morris Loyd, Dusty Jenkins, James Loyd, two daughters, America Loyd, Courtney Loyd and a great grandson, Mox Newby.
Mr. Loyd leaves behind his wife of fifty eight years, Kathy Loyd, children, Rollin Monta Loyd (Ginger), Tracy Lyvon Loyd (Jenny), Angel Cain (Jason), Jason Loyd (Elizabeth), Anthony Loyd, Journey Loyd, Destiny Loyd, Lilly Anna Loyd, Storm Loyd, Devan Loyd, Haley Loyd, Lonnie McDonald, his three sisters, Maryann Fennell (the late Bill Fennell), Donna Sue Carter (Condell), Jan Harden (Chuck), fourteen grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 4:00 pm on Monday, July 6, 2020 in the Williams Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home with Reverend Chuck Bush officiating.
Mr. Loyd will be laid to rest beside his children in Blue Springs Cemetery.
His family will receive friends on Monday, at the funeral home, from 3:00 pm until the hour of service.
Those attending events at the funeral home will be required to wear facial coverings and practice social distancing.
