Mr. Ronald E. 'Ronnie" Pierce, age 88, beloved husband of Mary Anne Lumley Pierce of Decatur, GA passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, GA.

Mr. Pierce was born in Treutlen County, the last living and oldest of ten children born to the late Kyle Flanders Pierce and Ella Mae Walker Pierce. He grew up in Treutlen County, where he attended school before enlisting, at the age of seventeen, to serve in the United States Navy. While in the Navy he was assigned to the USS Hector (AR-7), during the Korean Conflict. Upon being honorably discharged he returned home and met and married Swainsboro native, Mary Anne Lumley in 1965. The Pierce's lived in Swainsboro until moving to Atlanta in late 1967. They have made Decatur their home for the past fifty years. Mr. Pierce had worked as a Flooring Sub Contractor with Glover Flooring in Chamblee, for many years, serving the Atlanta and surrounding areas. Recognized for his quest for perfection was one of his strong suits that lent to his business success.

He and his wife have been longtime members of the Valley Brook Baptist Church in Decatur.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Pierce is preceded in death by his siblings, Ruby Darley, Sue Krier, Lotus Carroll, Christine Ricker, Grace Bennett, Pauline Williams, Flanders Pierce, Cecil Pierce, Robert Pierce and a grandson, Kyle Vadnais.

Mr. Pierce leaves behind, his wife of fifty seven years, Mary Anne Lumley Pierce, Decatur, GA, daughters, Wanda Pierce Knoll (Rick), Auburndale, FL, Veronica Pierce Robinson (Eric), Woodstock, GA, two granddaughters, Amber Ward, Holland Robinson and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 6, 2023 in the Williams Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home with Revered Milton Thomas officiating.

Mr. Pierce will be laid to rest in the family section of Midway Church Cemetery, Soperton, Georgia.

His family will receive friends on Saturday, at the funeral home, from 1:00 pm until the hour of service.
