Mrs. Ruby Joyce Tanner, age 88, beloved wife of the late Albert Sidney Tanner of Soperton passed away on Saturday evening, January 7, 2023 at her home.

Born in Augusta, she was the daughter of the late Pearlie Mae Davis.

She had lived in Soperton for most of her life except for a short time in Wheeler County.    In 1947 she married Wheeler County native, Albert Sidney Tanner.  After returning to Treutlen County, she worked as a Machine Operator at Soperton Manufacturing for thirty years before retiring in the 1980s.

Mrs. Tanner was Holiness by faith and enjoyed flower gardening, sewing and crocheting.

In addition to her mother, she is preceded in death by a sister, Jennell Carey and a brother, Benny Davis and her husband of sixty two years, Albert Sidney Tanner, who passed away on March 10, 2010.

Mrs. Tanner leaves behind, her children, Betty Harrington (Jessie), James Tanner (Pearlie), Fred Tanner, Clayton Tanner, Ruby Ann McConnell (Dennis), all of Soperton, three sisters, Vinney Dorsey, Soperton, Mary Alice Westberry, St. Augustine, FL, Patsy Watts, St. Augustine, FL, eleven grandchildren, twenty five great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 from the graveside in Red Bluff cemetery as she is laid to rest beside her husband.  Her son, Clayton will be officiating.

Her family will receive friends on Tuesday, at Sammons Funeral Home, from 2:00 pm until time for departing to the cemetery.
