Mr. Russell Ricks, age 78 of the Orianna Community of Soperton, Georgia passed away on Saturday morning, October 20, 2018 at his home.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 pm on Monday, October 22, 2018 in the Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home with Reverend Milton Thomas, Pastor Josh Lord and Sheriff Thomas H. Corbin, officiating.

Mr. Ricks will be laid to rest in the Ricks Family Cemetery, in the Orianna Community of Soperton, GA.

His family will receive friends on Sunday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the funeral home.

Visitors may also call at the home of Josh and Marie Lord.

In honor of his personal desires, blue jeans and casual funeral attire is acceptable.

A native and lifelong resident of Treutlen County, he was one of eight children born to the late Edgar and Ila Mae Thigpen Ricks. Mr. Ricks was a lifelong farmer and truck driver.

If he had a hobby, it was his cows, fishing and piddling.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Karol Lynn Ricks and two brothers, Billy and Decie Ricks.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Linda Bush Ricks, two sons, Keith Ricks (Linda), Kregg Ricks, a daughter, Marie Lord (Josh), all of Soperton, his siblings, Barbara Meeks (Earl), Cedar Bluff, AL, Lynn Wilkes (Donnie), Soperton, Dale Ricks (Maurita), Soperton, Karen Kemp (James), Eastman, Duane Ricks, Soperton, four grandchildren, Ryan Ricks, Emily Miller, Jozlyn Lord, Josie Lord and numerous nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be: Matt Ricks, Randy Meeks, Tommy Bush, Brad Kelly, Tony Bush and Jason Cox.
