Mrs. Sarah Brantley, 87, of Soperton, GA died March 15, 2016 at Doctors Hospital, Augusta, GA.

Graveside services were held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at Westview Cemetery in Soperton, GA with Rev. Ricky Walker officiating. Platt's Funeral Home, Augusta, and Sammons Funeral Home, Soperton, were in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Brantley was shy, quiet, very private, and extremely independent. She was a devoted daughter to her parents, transferring from her job at Fort Gordon to the VA Hospital in Dublin to be near her ailing father and also her daughter. Mrs. Brantley then cared for her mom for 13 years. She loved her family and was fiercely protective of her daughter. Mrs. Brantley spent the last 5 years of her life in Augusta with her beloved cat Nellie and her daughter. She enjoyed eating out, the Carolina Jamboree, sightseeing, flowers, and exploring the byways.

Mrs. Brantley is survived by her daughter, Sharon Sweat; her sister, Genie Gillis; and niece, Tonya Gillis. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, Pete Gillis and Thurman Gillis, Jr.

The family would like to thank all of Mrs. Brantley's caregivers that loved and took care of her.
