Sgt. Bradley Vahn Brewer, beloved brother of the late Aylah Aleecia Brewer, sustained injuries on July 24, 2020 and later died on July 30, 2020 due to a completed suicide near Savannah, GA. Attempts were made to honor his wish to be an organ and tissue donor.

Bradley was born on September 27, 1989, on Ellsworth Air Force Base near Rapid City, South Dakota, the son of Nicholl Ransom and Vaughn Brewer.  He graduated Salutatorian from East Laurens High School in East Dublin, Georgia in 2008. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 2009 to 2013 as an Intelligence Specialist.  He enrolled at the Savannah College of Art and Design in the Spring of 2014 and attended classes through Spring 2017.  He majored in Illustration and double-minored in Drawing and Painting.  He later married Jessica in 2019.

Bradley was an accomplished Veteran of the United States Marine Corps.  He earned the National Defense Service Medal for serving during a time of war.  In 2010, he was selected to attend the Defense Language Institute in California for Persian-Farsi and he was awarded the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal for performance of duty in a designated anti-terrorism operation.  2011 was an especially successful year for Bradley.  He received Certificates of Commendation for obtaining the highest rifle, pistol, and test scores during Combat Marksmanship Coaching school and for being selected as the 4th Quarter Marine of the Year.  Later in 2011, he was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for being selected as the 2011 Marine of the Year.  He received the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal for receiving no non-judicial punishment, disciplinary infractions or court martial offenses for three consecutive years of active duty service in 2012.  For his services rendered while deployed in Afghanistan for Operation Enduring Freedom, he received the Marine Corps Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, NATO/ISAF (International Security Assistance Force) Afghanistan Medal and the Afghanistan Campaign Medal.  He was honorably discharged in 2014 and remained in the Marine Forces Reserve through 2017.

Bradley connected with many friends through a mutual love of art, gaming, nature and cats. Pokémon, Zelda, Halo, and his cat Ashe brought him great joy and were commonplace at home. After returning from basic training, he turned the house on Pineview Drive in East Dublin into a literal computer gaming network. His playfulness and humor will be deeply missed. He once wrote on his resume his skills as "excellent lawn mower, trash taker-outer, dish washer, professional vacuumer, duster and cat litter refresher". His love of nature included his life goal of hiking the Appalachian Trail, which he was able to start prior to his passing.

He is survived by his widow, Jessica, his mother Nicholl Ransom and his sister Stephne (Jerad) Stanfield. Other important members of his family include Donnie Thigpen, Tony (Teresa) Russell, and Tina and Becky Brewer.  He was predeceased by his father Vaughn Brewer in 2004, his grandfather Jim Brewer in 2005 and his sister Aylah Brewer in 2006, in addition to other grandparents, extended family members and his cats from over the years. Other aunts, uncles, cousins and friends are also grieving this sudden and traumatic loss.

The family will receive friends and your fondest memories of Brad from 5-7 pm on Saturday, January 28, 2023, at 3099 East Main Street, Soperton.  An outdoor service with military honors will be held at Westview Cemetery, Highway 46 in Soperton, at 11 am on Sunday, January 29, 2023.  Following the service, refreshments, including vegan options, will be available for all guests at 3099 East Main Street, Soperton.  The family encourages memorial donations to causes that were important to Bradley in lieu of flowers.  Learn more about these organizations at https://bradleyandaylah.weebly.com/memorial-donations.html
