Mrs. Shelby J. Mason, age 87, beloved wife of the late Robert A. "Bobby" Mason of Soperton passed away on Wednesday afternoon, August 6, 2025 at Memorial Health in Savannah.

Born in Vidalia, she was one of seven children born to the late Marvin Scott and Dovie Mae Davis Scott.  She grew up and attended school in Kibbee.  In 1957 she married Robert Aaron "Bobby" Mason and in the early 1960 s they made their permanent home in Soperton.  After watching her youngest child enter elementary school, she enrolled at Georgia Southern in Statesboro where she obtained her Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education.  In the mid 1970s she began a twenty five year career teaching sixth grade English in the Treutlen County School System.  While her husband ran Mason's NAPA Auto Parts, she taught school until they both retired in 2000.

After retiring, Mr. and Mrs. Mason began traveling, with no set agenda.  They visited the entire United States, more than once, many countries within the European continent, Africa, Switzerland, Canada, Mexico, South America and the Caribbean and Jamaican Island chains.

Mrs. Mason had attended the Soperton Church of God.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of fifty eight years, Bobby Mason, a son in law, Steven Brown, twin infant sisters, a brother, Donnie Scott and a sister, Mary Jane Campbell.

Mrs. Mason leaves behind, her children, Danny Mason (Becky), Soperton, GA, Donnie Mason (Gail), Vidalia, GA, Jeff Mason (Cathy), Soperton, GA, Wendy Mason, Soperton, GA, two brothers, Dofus Scott and Tony Scott( Sharon), all of Vidalia, grandchildren, Danielle Barwick (Chris), Todd Mason (Deanna), D. J. Mason (Lindsey), Cari Dixon (Ryan), Tabatha Nobles (Derrick), Duston Bateman (Shannon), Brian Mason (Chanta), Gregory Mason (Jessi), Laura Thompson (Erin), Caylan Mason (Taylor), great grandchildren, Emma Rae, Christopher, Presley Kate, Darci, Bryar, Ivey, Brock, Dax, Jase, Luke, Mia, Evie, Trigg, Alaysia, Ashlynn, Ivy, Jackson and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Sunday, August 10, 2025 in the Williams Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home with Reverend Mark Sweat officiating.

Mrs. Mason will be laid to rest beside her husband in the Ferguson Cemetery near Higgston.

Serving as pallbearers will be:  D. J. Mason, Todd Mason, Brian Mason, Gregory Mason, Caylan Mason and Duston Bateman.

Her family will receive friends, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm on Saturday, at Sammons Funeral Home.

In lieu of thoughtful, covered, dishes being brought to the family's homes, donations are encouraged to be made in her memory to the Soperton Church of God, 6359 GA Hwy 29, Soperton, GA  30457
