Mrs. Shelby Spivey, age 79, of Rockledge died Friday, May 6, 2016.

Mrs. Spivey was a lifelong resident of Rockledge and was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Hattie Thigpen McLendon, husband, Alver S. Spivey, Sr., son, Alver S. Spivey, Jr., and brother, S. V. McLendon. She was retired from the Laurens County Board of Education where she worked in the cafeteria and was a member of Rockledge United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her children, Kathy (Blandon) Moseley of East Dublin and Jack Spivey of Rockledge; daughter-in-law, Estelita Spivey of Rockledge; grandchildren, Matt (Natalie) Moseley, Michael (Holly) Moseley, Katie Moseley, Jim (Tiffany) Spivey, Jessie (Cameron) Morris, T. J. Spivey, and Kimberly Spivey; great-grandchildren, Payton Spivey, Gabby Spivey, Braden Moseley, and Connor Moseley; brother, Larry (Elaine) McLendon of Rockledge; brother-in-law, W. T. Spivey of Rockledge; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Monday, May 9, with Reverend Myron Wise officiating. Burial will be in Thigpen Cemetery, Rockledge.

Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and may be reached at the family residence, 1957 Rockledge Road, Rockledge, GA.
