Mrs. Shirley Carson Claxton, age 71, of Vidalia died Monday, January 4, 2016.

Services were held in Tarrytown Baptist Church at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 6, with Pastor Donny Brown officiating. Burial was in Tarrytown Cemetery with Sammons Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Claxton was born in Walterboro, S.C. and was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Helen Dean Carson and husband, William Talmadge Claxton. She was a bookkeeper with Talmadge Claxton Plumbing Company and a member of Tarrytown Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Alicia (Brandon) Gillis of Ailey and Pam Claxton of Vidalia; two grandchildren, Annabelle and Elijah Gillis of Ailey; sisters, Kitty (Wayne) Foskey of Lyons and Jeanette Mizzell of St. George, SC; and brother, Charles (Betty) Carson of Walterboro, SC.

Pallbearers were Brandon Gillis, Steven Grinstead, George Claxton, Chuck Foskey, Joey Foskey, and Zack Claxton.
