Mrs. Shirley Sammons Thompson of East Dublin died Wednesday, May 4, 2016.
Mrs. Thompson was born and grew up in Soperton and had also lived in Vidalia before moving to East Dublin fifteen years ago. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roscoe and Mildred Morris Sammons, her husband, William F. "Bill" Thompson, and son, Dale Thompson. She was a homemaker, loved working with antiques, and attended Dublin Church of God.
Survivors include her son, Kenneth (Lori) Thompson of Reidsville; sisters, Sylvia Spivey of Melbourne, FL, Jerry (Melvin) Davis and Merita Sammons, all of East Dublin, and Miriam (William) Mincey of Statesboro; brother, Louie (Melanie) Sammons of East Dublin; sisters-in-law, Judy Bryant, Kathy Thompson, and Ida Lou Gay; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 7, with Pastor Steve Hardeman officiating. Burial will be in Westview Cemetery, Soperton.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Daniel, Danny Daniel, David Ragen, Freddie Churchwell, Jerome Williamson, and Joe Corbin.
The family will receive friends one hour before the services on Saturday.
