Ms. Shirley Brantley Wagoner, age 60, formerly of Soperton passed away on Wednesday afternoon, November 8, 2023 at Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital in Athens, Georgia.

Born in Swainsboro, Georgia she was one of eighteen children in the family.  She grew up in Soperton where she attended school and was an honor graduate of the graduating Class of 1981 from Treutlen County High School.  Shirley had worked at GFF in Soperton for many years as well as in the textile industry in the Griffin and Locust Grove areas before moving to Monticello, Georgia in the early 2000s.  Once settled in Jasper County she found her true passion; caring for others through home health care.  For over twenty years, she gave to others during their times of need and comforting.

Earlier in her life, she was an accomplished Fastpitch Softball player that became a recognized and respected fixture at the state level of competition.

She was raised in the Pentecostal Holiness church and was currently a member at the Callie Fuller Baptist Church in Monticello.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, John Cooper Brantley and Mary Doris Beasley Brantley and siblings, Moses Brantley, David Brantley, Aaron Brantley and Timothy Brantley.

She leaves behind, her two children, Brandon King (Katherine Bowman), Newnan, GA, Christy Coyle (Robert Preston), Hermosa Beach, CA, siblings, Ruby Dell Tanner, Soperton, GA, Becky Griner (Carlton), Soperton, GA, Barbara Borg (Randy, San Antonio, TX, Arlow Brantley, Warner Robins, GA, Cooper Brantley (Cornelia), Dublin, GA, Sonya Warnock (David), Warren Brantley, Stillmore, GA, Byron Brantley, Soperton and Samanthia Brantley, Macon, GA, grandchildren, Chase Swilley, Zachary King, Khloe King, Reverie Preston, Walker Langham and countless nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:30 pm on Sunday, November 12, 2023 in the Williams Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home with Pastor Charles Roper officiating.

Shirley will be laid to rest in the Old Herndon Family Cemetery, Soperton, GA.

Her family will receive friends on Saturday from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at the funeral home.

Serving as pallbearers will be: Isaiah Brantley, Zachary King, Chase Swilley, Brandon King, Jay Brantley and Robert Preston.
